Frequently asked questions.

How are youth referred for residential placement?

It all begins with a referral submitted to our program from the Department of Child Services. We accept referrals from Baltimore City Department of Social Services or other Departments located in surrounding counties in Maryland.

What is the length of stay for youth placed in the program?

Although there is no predetermined length of stay for youth once placed in our program, the average residency for a youth is 1 year. We have had girls reside in our program for 4 years prior to their transition to a Licensed Independent Living Program, a lower level of care i.e. foster home or reunification with a family member or fictive kin.

What schools do your residents attend?

Our residents attend local middle and high schools in Baltimore City or Baltimore County. Youth, whom are in need of specialized education programs are referred to private level V schools in Maryland.

Potential Residents are always curious to know: Will I have to share a room with another resident?

Our residence has 5 bedrooms and we host up to 8 girls. There are two single occupancy bedrooms and 3 double occupancy bedrooms. One of our double occupancy bedrooms has a bathroom for the two residents occupying the bedroom to share. All bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. We assist residents with bringing their personal touch to their bedrooms and encourage them to incorporate modest creativity in their decor.
