Our Story

Our Fortress Homes, Inc. was established in Baltimore, Maryland in October of 2005. At the inception of the program, we served boys ages 12-16, as a licensed therapeutic residential out of home placement for youth in foster care. In 2007, the program expanded to serve girls ages 13-17, as residential placements serving girls in Maryland grew urgency.

This urgency coincided with the founder’s vision and our therapeutic group placement for girls commenced in the historic Hanlon Park Neighborhood of Baltimore City.

During our two-decades of serving youth in foster care we have developed a favorable reputation amongst our licensing providers and partners in the foster care community. Our current program fosters 8 girls ages 13-17, in our Baltimore City Residential Home. We are proud of our services and the impact that our program, has made in the foster care community especially for the families that experience out of home placement. Our homelike facility and operations are designed to give our residents pride and stability as they further develop essential life skills, confidence and reach bench markers for their future success.

As a 501 C3 community-based program; Our Fortress Homes provides wellness and rehabilitation services to constituents identified as at risk in the community, in need of higher level of foster care, experience familial instability, have behavioral adjustment needs, educational needs and present with one or more mental health diagnoses that impact them emotionally, socially and inter personally.

Through providing prevention strategies and interventions, we support our youth in transforming their lives and looking towards their future. A major commitment that we uphold in our service delivery is to strengthen families as we work collaboratively with stakeholders towards permanency planning for our residents. It is our belief that once an individual connects with their innate strengths, gifts and talents, they allow themselves more opportunities for healing and wellness.

Our Fortress Homes’ grassroots philosophy of care continues to evolve but stays true to our original mission and vision for fostering youth with dignity and respect. Our Fortress Homes is a testimony that it takes a village to raise a child.
